Margin Tianya Zheng | 郑天涯 was born in Manhattan in 2001 in a Han Chinese-American family. At age two, they showed an unusual predilection for sound, preferring toys that made music. So their parents bought them a toy keyboard, and Margin taught themself to play melodies like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Later, at age 5, they began formal lessons. Soon, they became famous in their school for their passionate and sensitive interpretations. Starting in middle school, they began to participate in school music activities as a collaborative pianist, having already been involved in the school music program as a violist. In the following years, Margin developed their skills both for solo and collaborative performance, while also exploring a new musical interest: composing. Now, Margin works as a freelancer engaging with all their music interests, while studying virtually at California Institute of Integral Studies for a combined MA in East-West Psychology and MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts.
