Do you LOVE to play Piano?
Would you like a part time job playing Piano and making music?
Saint Benedict Episcopal Church in Lacey Washington is looking to hire a Pianist and/or hire a temporary substitute Pianist.
Someone who loves to lead music, someone who is comfortable with traditional hymns or soul, spirituals and world music. Someone who is creative, outgoing and dependable. Don’t need to be religious; an open heart is more important.
We are offering a monthly stipend in the range of $100-$200 a Sunday for a pianist to play music at 10:30, work with our song leaders to practice leading worship and to practice with fellow musicians in our congregation that play on Sundays as well.
Amount of pay will be determined by experience and talent.
On holidays and feast days, you will accompany our choir and choir director by playing piano as well. We are flexible about holidays as we know that holidays often mean going home out of town. As long as we have good communication about your schedule, we can work with you as we have other musicians in our congregation.
Knowledge about Christianity and liturgical worship is a plus, but we will work with the right person. More important than knowledge is imagination. We are open minded church that welcomes young and old, gay and straight, etc. Dogmatic approaches, black and white thinking about whom God loves is not a part of our community. We are a tradition that values reason as well as scripture. We are open minded and seek out beauty and mystery in our worship rather than forcing ideas or dogma on our members.
We are open to people from other faith traditions or no faith tradition.
We are open to candidates of different ethnic traditions or LGBTIQ folks.
The right candidate will be dependable and a self starter, able to be present most Sunday mornings at Saint Benedict at 9:45 am and able to practice on a quarterly basis with our choir. You will have transportation to and from our church.
