Miranda was born in Essex, where she studied the piano and violin. Piano teachers included Nicholas Sherwood, Vivianne Hircock & Shirley Shepherd. At the age of 18, Miranda had lessons with Mrs Taylor, a pupil of Claudio Arrau (who was a pupil of a pupil of Liszt). At the Universities of Bristol and Cardiff, where she obtained a Masters in Piano Performance, she studied for four years with Raymond Clarke (himself a pupil of Ryszard Bakst), and afterwards studied privately with Julian Jacobson (Professor at RCM).
She has taken part in Masterclasses and Festivals in France and Italy (incl. San Danielle, and in the South of Italy), and chamber-music courses in England.
