Behind the Philippine Music Histories, there was an innovative and influential musician named Sigmund Sanvictores. He was known for his great courage and perseverance to explore his music figures. Sigmund Sanvictores was a musician, arranger, programmer and a band leader. He was at the forefront of almost every major development in music after college. His sound went on to influence many other newer forms of music today such as pop, soul, R&B and other forms of music. As one of the great pianist players, Sigmund employed a lyrical, melodic style that was known for its minimalism as well as introspection. Sigmund influence also extended as far as his ability to great up-and-coming musicians and nurture their creativity within his many bands.
Born in Quezon City, Philippines. He started playing the piano and organ at the age of seven both of his parents and sisters also played the same instrument as a hobby that encouraged him to improve his talent. Sigmund was given plenty of recitals during high school days. He had a formal piano lesson in the convent under by nuns. Started to form a band during college and plays a lot of gig all over Manila and other places.
After College Sigmund Sanvictores worked as a keyboard consultant and sales demonstrator in Yamaha Music Corporation in Makati Philippines. Because of his versatility Sigmund enhance his knowledge in music programming and made some musical arrangements and landed him to programmed backing tracks to a few popular Philippine artists and famous musical school like Center for Pop Philippines. He also accompanied by famous celebrities like former first lady Imelda Marcos, Basil Valdez, Anthony Castelo and many more. Throughout his career his sound went to many other new forms of music today such as jazz, pop and ballad.
In 1995, Sigmund formed his own group “Lights and Shadow” composed of 3 female singers, pianist as “himself” and one “sequencer” man band. Sigmund and his band is the epitome of jazz, symbolizing jazz as innovative, cool, complex and unpredictable.
After a year he decided to work in various hotels in Asia like South Korea, China and in United Arab Emirates from 1996 until 2010. He recently arrived from Russia worked as a singing pianist onboard the ship “Viking River Cruises”.
