Pianist Jieun Kim regularly performs in the United States and Asia as both a solo and chamber musician. She presented a Debut Concert for Korean Talented Solo Musicians in 2002 in Seoul, Korea and has won prizes from the Bradshaw & Buono Competition in New York City and the Korean Piano Duo Competition as a member of the Piano Duo with Suna Lee. The Lee-Kim Duo made their New York City Carnegie Hall debut in 2005 and appeared in concert at the Schumann Festival held at Boston University’s Tsai Performance Center. In 2007, Jieun contributed to a Gala Concert in China celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music as a member of the Aurora Chamber Music Ensemble. She has collaborated with internationally renowned soloists, including trombone soloist Don Lucas, Mike Roylance, the Principal Tuba of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Øystein Baadsvik, a distinguished tuba soloist. She has also served as a pianist at the Tanglewood Institute for Horn, Trombone, and Tuba Workshops, and performed with Daniel Katzen on WGBH Radio Station’s live broadcast, ‘Classics in the Morning.’
Originally from South Korea, Jieun completed her Doctor of Music Arts in Piano Performance at Boston University, where she also obtained her Master of Music Degree and Performance Diploma. Her undergraduate studies in Piano Performance were at Yonsei University. Her principal teachers include Maria Clodes-Jaguaribe, Tong-Il Han, Min-Sook Cheon, and Myung-Won Shin.
Currently, Jieun works as a private teacher, pianist, and chamber musician. She is also a member of the Dallas Asian Winds Ensemble and Flunoba Trio, continuing to share her passion for music and collaboration.
