I have played the piano for 12 years, taken lessons for 10 years. I have a good ear, but I have a hard time sight reading. It takes me a while to learn a piece, but after playing and practicing it for a while, I end up memorizing it. I haven't had any professional lessons, my 2 teachers knew their music and my latest teacher grew up in Russia. I play occasionally, but I want to get back into playing again. I have never had the passion for music my whole life, but i have found it to be relaxing and enjoyable. Like I said, I can't sight read very well, but I can memorize things rather quickly.
