Additional Info:

I come from a musical family and began formal lessons at age 5. At age 16, I completed a study of piano and music theory with a performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Concurrently, I was the "pit boss" and mallet percussionist lead in my high school marching and concert bands. I moved on to study jazz theory and history privately under George Mason University Professor Wade Beach (a long running pianist for the Airmen of Note.) I also studied group dynamics in a small jazz combo setting through the Levine School of Music in Washington, DC. In 2019, I graduated from George Mason University (GMU) with a major in physics and minor in Jazz Studies. In 2022, I relocated to Huntsville, AL.

My style specialties include jazz, blues, funk and rock, although I am comfortable with many other styles.

I read music and play by ear and am able to pick up new songs quickly. This, along with my background in small group vocalist combos and concert band, helps me accompany vocalist and instrumentalist students in recitals and competitions. I am also available to work with students to help them prepare for performances and be their best.

I am available at nights and on weekends. Please contact me for availability. For more information, including samples of my work, visit www.AlexanderTinnelMusic.com.
