Originally an accountancy graduate from Nanyang Technological University and having worked as an auditor at Ernst & Young, Aloysius decided to follow his passion for music and made a choice to switch careers to study a degree Music Piano Performance at LASALLE College of the Arts, specializing in Classical Music in 2007 under the tutelage of Mr Arkadiuz Bialak.Aloysius was awarded the prestigious McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2010 from LASALLE as well as a First Class Honors Bachelor in Arts (Classical Music Piano Performance).
In 2012 he graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom with a Masters in Music with Distinction under the tutelage of piano teachers Philip Martin and Mark Bebbington. He was also awarded the MMUS Prize Award in 2013 for Excellence in Academics. He continued to do accompaniments for vocalists and instrumentalist while at the same time practicing his craft as a solo pianist. He actively performed in masterclasses conducted by British pianists such as Peter Donohoe, Rolf Hinds and Martin Jones. In June 2012, Aloysius won the first prize in the Edward Brooks English Song Prize accompaniment category held in Birmingham.
Aloysius was actively involved in numerous commercial music projects in Singapore. He performed in concerts with pop artistes such as George Lam and Corrinne May. He is a member of the National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Lim Soon Lee, where as a group they performed for Singapore Idol and the Malay Heritage Cultural Show in Esplanade. He was also involved in several musical productions such as Man of Letters in 2006 and The Last Five Years in March 2013 where he takes up the role of musical director. He did accompaniments for many local vocalists including Ms Stella Zhou and Mr Timothy Huang, Han Ying and Ma Qing in concerts held at venues such as Esplanade, School of the Arts (SOTA), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and National Library Drama Centre.
Aloysius currently works as a Lecturer for the Classical Diploma Music programme in LASALLE College of the Arts, and as a full time accompanist for Sheng Hui Chinese Choir.
