My name is Angela and I have played piano for 20+ years. I am a classically trained musician and received 10 years of weekly private lessons as a kid/teenager. I enjoy playing in a cocktail lounge setting where I can showcase my sight-reading skills and take requests. Because of this, I have a variety of set-lists and am open to playing most genres: pop, classic rock, power ballads, country, new wave, musical theatre, r&b/soul, contemporary piano solos, etc.
A bit about myself: I started accompanying my church choir when I was in 6th grade. At that same time, I was also the rehearsal pianist/accompanist for school productions such as Carousel and The Music Man. Growing up I was in a music electives & extra curricular activities for nearly a decade: jazz band, orchestra, wind ensemble, marching band, drum line, etc. I also started playing piano for weddings & funerals.
I have experience accompanying public school choirs as well as church choirs (Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, Methodist). I have been on-call at half a dozen churches in Los Angeles County & counting. Currently I work at Faith United Methodist Church where I accompany their ensemble and two choirs. I am on the committee helping with this year's Cabaret and am looking forward to planning (& playing) it.
I want to perform in cocktail lounges again, join accompanist pools within university music departments, and play for auditions and (one-on-one) rehearsals.
My short-term goal is to be accepted into a graduate program that focuses on collaborative piano.
