I began to play the piano at the age of 4. I took lessons at school with Edward Richmond and David Mackay. I was accepted into the Junior school of RSAMD where I studied with Margaret Wakeford and regularly performed as a soloist and with chamber ensembles. I deputised as organist in many churches in Ayrshire and worked with church choirs as accompanist. I graduated from RSAMD (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) where I studied with renowned Scottish pianist Jean Hutchison. I won the Mary D MacLagan award for pianoforte and developed my love of chamber music and piano accompaniment.
After graduating, I worked in the music publishing industry in London for a number of years as Managing Editor for IMP/Warner Chappell and continued to teach piano. I returned to Scotland and became a primary teacher where I worked for many years as primary music specialist for South Ayrshire Council.
I teach all ages and standards from my home on a Yamaha GB1.
I am available as accompanist and welcome chamber music opportunities.
