Dr. Azariah Tan is currently a staff piano accompanist at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance as well as a double Masters in Music degree in Piano Performance as well as Chamber Music with Logan Skelton at the University of Michigan. The National Arts Council-Conservatory scholar graduated with first-class honors in 2011, studying with Associate Professor Albert Tiu at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS.
As an educator, he has frequently taught on both institutional as well as personal levels. Examples include the Bluelake Fine Arts Camp at Muskegon, Michigan, the University of Michigan, The School of the Arts, Singapore, as well as in masterclasses locally.
Azariah has also been a first prizewinner in several national and international competitions, such as the 2010 Bradshaw and Bruno International Piano Competition, the American Prize 2012, and the 2009 National Piano and Violin Competition in Singapore.
His performances have also been broadcasted over the Yugoslavian National TV, and he has been featured over the Voice of America and on the Singapore Mediacorp TV Channels 5 and 8, FM Stations Symphony 92.4 and 93.8 Live as well as on numerous occasions, in The Straits Times and other local and foreign publications. Azariah has performed at John F. Kennedy Center, as one of the 4 recipients of the VSArts International Young Soloists Award, as well as at the Shakespeare Lansburgh Theatre in Washington DC as a guest artist for VSArts. He has also performed with the Polish Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and Kevin Kern at the Esplanade Concert Hall .
During his undergraduate studies, he was placed on the University Deans List multiple times and received the National University of Singapore Students Achievement Award for outstanding achievement in the Arts & Culture in 2009.
