Cândido Fernandes was born in Vila Nova de Gaia in September 1989.
Throughout his career, he participated in several contests, especially International Competition of Fundão (2003, 2005 - 3rd prize);
National Competition Ourém (2007 - 3rd prize);
Competition of the Conservatory of Music in Porto (2003, 2004, 2007 - 2nd and 3rd awards);
Young Musicians Award Competition 2008 - Chamber Music category, level
top (1st prize);
19th Internacional Chamber Music Competition of Greece (2010 3rd prize).
He has performed in solo and chamber music in the most important Cultural Centres of Portugal and also in Spain, Greece, German and Lithuania.
He was a guest musician Symphonic Band of the National Guard.
Cândido Fernandes had the opportunity to meet many pianists and conductors, among them Sequeira Costa, Tania Achot, Olga Prats, Ana Telles, Jorge Moyano, Nicholas McNair, Bruno Belthoise, Michel Gal, Kamen Goleminov, Martin Andre, Jan Cober, Alberto Roque, Vasco Pearce Azevedo, André Granjo, Francisco Ferreira, Pedro Carneiro, Christopher Bochmann, Jean-Sébastien Béreau and many other.
Often collaborates with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa, Youth Orchestra Momentum Perpetuum (which is co-founder), Nova Orquestra de Lisboa and Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa.
Edited two CDs: PsychoTherapy with Duo XaSonaiP and other with Portuguese Contemporary Music with Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa.
Currently is accompanist and chamber music teacher at National Conservatory in Lisbon.
