Candy has recently relocated to Berlin, Germany and works as a freelance Pianist / Vocal Coach. Last summer, she worked as a Korrepetitorin for the Berlin Opera Academy on Die Zauberflöte and Ariadne auf Naxos productions conducted by Lutz De Veer and Peter Leonard. She played the piano and celesta for the Silk Road Symphony Orchestra's premiere performance on works by Stravinsky, Strauss and Qigang Chen in the Großer Sendesaal of the Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin. She was also the Korrepetitorin for the production of Le Nozze di Figaro of The Berlin Opera Group. Prior to that, she was a Répétiteur at the Vancouver Opera where she worked with acclaimed conductors such as Jonathan Darlington, Jacques Lacombe, Robert Tweten, and Leslie Dala. She played the celesta at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for Mozart's Zauberflöte production.
Originally from Hong Kong, Candy received her Master of Music degree in Piano Accompaniment from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where she received tuition from Pamela Lidiard and worked with highly accomplished musicians such as Graham Johnson, Eugene Asti, Iain Burnside, and Sarah Walker. Upon graduation, she relocated to Dublin where she worked with students of acclaimed voice teacher Veronica Dunne from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Candy then furthered her training as a Répétiteur at the Flanders Operastudio in Gent, Belgium, where she played for Sir Thomas Allen and Ann Murrays masterclasses.
Candy attended Centre for Opera Studies in Italy (CO-SI), worked as a Répétiteur for Franco American Vocal Academy (FAVA) in Salzburg, AIMS International Music School in the UK, the Irish Vocal Masterclass in Ireland, Zêzere Arts Festival for Opera in Portugal, and Montalto Musica in Italy.
Candy is a versatile pianist. She enjoys being a freelance ballet accompanist (Staff Pianist for Ballet BC, and Royal Ballet School in London), church organist, and piano teacher.
