I have a Bachelor of Music in Piano performance, with an emphasis on piano accompaniment. I graduated in 2005 with distinction and received high distinctions for all my accompaniment classes.

I believe that there is a big difference between a good pianist and a good accompanist – it’s not just about playing well, but it’s vitally important to be able to follow (and to a certain degree, predict) the soloist. Many of the soloists I have accompanied request me again and again because I play in such a way that they feel free to do what they want to do with the music, knowing that I will be right there to back them up.

I have considerable experience accompanying instrumentalists, but the bulk of my time has been spent with vocalists and choirs. I have had significant training vocally too, so can act as a vocal coach if the singer welcomes advice.
