With passion in music performance and pedagogy, Dr. Connie Luk is actively pursuing her career in music teaching and performance. Luk has performed in both solo and chamber recitals as well as collaborated with various Western and Chinese instruments such as flute, violin, viola, cello, vocal, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, Zheng, Pipa, San Xian, and Liu Qin.
Throughout the years, Luk was educated in top institutions in North America and Asia Pacific. Luk holds a Ph.D. degree in piano pedagogy from the Hong Kong Baptist University. Her research focuses on Chopin’s pedagogical approaches to piano teaching. Prior to that, Luk graduated with distinction and scholastic award in Master of Arts in Music (major in piano pedagogy) from the Hong Kong Baptist University. Luk holds two bachelor degrees – a Bachelor of Music degree (Piano concentration) from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria. Regarding professional development, Luk currently holds the LRSM diploma in Piano Performance (ABRSM), and the DipABRSM diploma in Principles of Instrumental Teaching – Piano (ABRSM). Luk continuously pursues training in various music teaching methodologies (e.g., the Dalcroze method) and the Certificate of Teaching program (ABRSM).
