MUSIC EXPERIENCE
Current Musical Employment Music Director and Vocal Accompanist for Lee Strasberg Institute and Singers Forum. Lead the Dan Furman Trio and Quartet at Cleopatras Needle at Broadway and 92nd Street. Music Director and piano accompaniment for various productions at Churchill Middle and High School (29th St and 2nd Ave). Leader and composer for the Primordial Jazz Funktet, a jazz group incorporating funk and hiphop rhythms. Keyboardist for New York Minute, a contemporary dance band based in Long Island.
Other Experience In Atlanta, GA from 1997-2003, founder and pianist for World Mambo Mission, a Latin jazz and salsa band. Performed at Atlanta Jazz Festival, and Atlanta-Montreaux Festival. Vocal accompanist for jazz and cabaret singers around NYC, including open mikes with Trudi Mann, Cleopatras Needle and the Singers Forum Open Mike. Frequent pianist in shows at Dont Tell Mama, The Metropolitan Room, The Duplex, The Triad and many other cabaret clubs.
MUSIC THEATER
Composer in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop 2005-2010.
Songs have been performed at BMI Smoker Series, Algonquin Salon, West
End Theater and Tuesdays@9 at the Cherry Pit.
Composer for several short (10-minute) musicals that have been featured at Raw Impressions Music Theater Festival (2006), the Golden Fleece Composers
Forum in Manhattan and the Byrdcliffe Art Colony in Woodstock, NY.
Composer, lyricist and bookwriter for RIP!, a full-length musical awarded a staged
reading as part of Theatre Resources Unlimiteds New Musical Reading
Series in Dec, 2009. RIP! has received fiscal sponsorship from the New
York Foundation for the Arts.
Awarded Anna Sosenko Grant in April, 2010 to help fund a staged reading of RIP!
at Emerging Artists Theatre in Manhattan.
