Additional Info:

Suffolk-based & prizing-winning pianist Daniel is a highly versatile & much sought-after musician, teacher & freelance accompanist working throughout the East of England. He has collaborated with Britten Pears Arts, Britten Sinfonia & most recently with the grassroots charity Morabe Rural Music & continues to work closely with members from Suffolk-based ensembles Scintillo String Quartet & the Kingfisher Ensemble as pianist & duo partner. As a theatre musician, Daniel has performed extensively throughout Suffolk & North Essex in both semi-professional & amateur productions; other performances have included intimate cabarets held at popular London venues including the Battersea Barge & The Other Place ‘Studio’ (formally the St. James Theatre ‘Studio’).

A masters graduate, Daniel studied with pianist Nigel Clayton of the Royal College of Music & conductor Sharon Shoa at the University of East Anglia, where he received distinction for his performance of Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto, given at Norwich Cathedral. Whilst studying piano, accompaniment & composition as an undergraduate at the Colchester Institute Centre for Music & Performing Arts Daniel performed in masterclasses for Alexander Ardakov, Piers Lane & Victor Sangiorgio; later being awarded the Canon Jack Award for solo piano & the Colchester Institute Concerto Prize for his performance of John Ireland’s Piano Concerto. After graduating, Daniel held a resident accompanist post at the Colchester Institute for 11 years, accompanying masterclasses & performances by visiting artists, ensembles & educators from leading music conservatoires & London’s West-End productions alongside coaching students preparing for performance platforms & end of year assessments.

Daniel continues to coach student soloists from senior & junior departments of UK conservatoires; a venture in which he has been able to explore his own interests in chamber repertoire of 19th Century Romantic & 20th Century British composers. In solo recitals he regularly explores & promotes the work of early 20th Century British composers John Ireland & Frank Bridge.
