I studied at the College of Music, Cape Town under Laura Searle. My qualifications are TLD, PDM, LRSM, FTCL . I was one of the three finalists for the SABC Music competition in 1972 and came third, with Mark Raubenheimer being first and Steven de Groot second. I was the runner up for the SAMRO Prize and had been given broadcasting contracts for the SABC.
Since 1972 I was soloist with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra in the Johannesburg City Hall, CAPAB Orchestra in the Nico Malan Theatre (now Artscape) and later with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra in the City Hall. I played in several concerts as soloist and
accompanied fellow students and other musicians as well as singers and choirs. I also did repertory work for CAPAB Opera.
Since I moved to Bellville, I accompanied advanced students playing violin, cello, viola, fute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, euphonium and recorder from the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre in Parow and surrounding schools for the eisteddfods, examinations, auditions, competitions and private concerts.
Since 1972 I taught music at Totius Primary School, Jan van Riebeeck Primary School, Fairmont High School, Grootte Schuur Primary School and I am presently at Parow East Primary School.
