Originaire de Montréal, Giancarlo Scalia est aussi actif comme pianiste que comme compositeur. Il s’est produit en tant que soliste et pianiste collaborateur un peu partout au Canada ainsi qu’en France, Autriche et Italie. Comme compositeur, ses œuvres ont été jouées au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Europe et il a composé sur commande pour divers solistes et ensembles. Il a obtenu un Baccalauréat et un DESS en interprétation piano sous la direction de Jimmy Brière et Marc Durand et une Maîtrise en composition instrumentale sous la direction de Denis Gougeon à l’Université de Montréal. Il a aussi participé plusieurs fois aux programmes d’accompagnement vocal du Centre d’arts Orford ainsi qu’à l’Académie Francis Poulenc à Tours, le Wiener Musikseminar à Vienne, Vox Musicae à Senigallia et COSI à Sulmona. www.giancarloscalia.comBorn in Montreal, Giancarlo Scalia often appears as both pianist and composer.
