Bristol-based pianist Helen Mills is an experienced accompanist whose performances with established musicians have taken her around the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and South America. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2008 with a distinction in the Piano Accompaniment Performance Masters degree after being awarded a scholarship to study there for two years. During her time at the school she studied with Andrew West, Pamela Lidiard and Charles Owen, participated in many recitals and projects and won the Tracey Chadwell Memorial Prize for her performance in a contemporary music recital, directed by Sarah Walker. Then in April 2009 Helen completed Udo Reinemann’s monthly International Lied Masterclasses at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels and was consequently invited to perform at the Festival des Heures Romantiques in France in 2009 and 2010.

Before moving to London Helen worked as a staff accompanist at the Specialist Music School, Wells Cathedral School for two years, working with talented young musicians aged 8 to 18.

Helen has worked as a staff accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Abingdon Summer School, Tutti Flutey and AIMS International Music School and as a performer on Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now Scheme. She moved back to Bristol in 2012, where she leads a busy life as a freelance accompanist and piano teacher.

She is an excellent sight-reader and has experience working with all instrumentalists and singers for recitals, exams, competitions, classes and auditions.
