I am an experienced, amicable, open-eared, quick-learning, input-loving, tune-slinging accompanist who has been playing for 21 of my 25 years.
Good stuff about me:
1. I am very easy to work with. I am a cooperator who listens and takes input well.
2. I have a heap of accompaniment experience, having accompanied for:
- choirs (including a university choir, a high school choir, and a church choir)
- vocal performers in recitals, music festivals, and awards ceremonies
- theatre productions
- student films
I have accompanied in many musical genres, from simple pop to arias to art song to jazz to whatever the heck Sondheim is :)
3. I am a good sight reader and a quick learner.
4. I have a solid piano history. I have my Grade 10 Practical RCM and Grade 3 Harmony, and have taught piano to young children as well a couple of university-aged students.
5. I play almost every day. Some of my favourite pieces include Rustle of Spring by Sinding, Bumble Boogie by Fina, anything by Christopher Norton, Prelude in C#- by Rachmaninoff, the Star Wars main theme, Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin, and Farewell to Nova Scotia by unknown.
Please contact me if I sound like an accompanist you'd like to have playing for you! I can also provide references or a sample performance if you'd like.
