My name is James MacDougall and I have been studying classical piano for over twenty years. I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a Bachelors in Piano Performance. Prior to that, I graduated from the Orange County High School of the Arts where I was an accompanist for the opera department. My primary teachers are Mack McCray and Jon Nakamatsu. I studied instrumental and vocal accompaniment with Dr. Timothy Bach.
In San Francisco I learned and performed a lot of the standard classical repertoire for many instruments as well as did a significant amount of vocal accompaniment. I am familiar with the standard Aria anthology for all classical voice types (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) and helped Merola and SF Opera singers prepare roles for Operas including the world premiere of Dolores Claiborne at the San Francisco Opera.
