Music has been a passion and a hobby since I was very young. Mostly a self-taught musician, I started learning jazz piano in 2010 when I joined Raffles Jazz in Raffles Junior College. In 2011, the club appointed me to be the Piano Sectional Leader, giving me more exposure to perform inside and outside the campus.
After graduating from Raffles Junior College, I joined NTU CAC Jazz and Blues in 2012 and have served as the Music Director ever since. Outside the jazz stream, I took part in a student musical production named Indonesian Cultural Night in 2014 as Scriptwriter and the Music Director. I conducted and led a mini orchestra consisting keyboards, nylon and steel guitars, violin and percussion as well as composed and arranged about 19 original, Broadway-inspired songs for that production. Hence, my experience in music is not solely limited to playing piano, but also including writing songs, teaching other musicians and arranging bands.
My musical preference is vast. Besides jazz, I could also play pop, rock, blues, Broadway, ethnic, funk, fusion and oriental tunes. However, I have never taken any ABRSM or classical piano grade, hence my classical piano knowledge is at most rudimentary.
