Jonathan is currently studying a Masters in Piano Accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having graduated with First Class Honours in music and the Rodwell Prize for piano from the University of Huddersfield.
In March 2017, Jonathan co-founded and ran a new, annual music festival, Leicester MusicFest. Aimed at encouraging youth music-making, the festival runs competitions, concerts, workshops and masterclasses, with an emphasis on accessibility and high-quality music. He is also a Junior Fellow at Aberystwyth MusicFest, working as an accompanist for the classical singing and vocal pedagogy courses alongside Dr Ron Morris, Janice Chapman and Veronica Veysey-Campbell.
Performance highlights this year include Wigmore Hall Study Group: Big Ideas for a small stage covering arias from Bachs Matthew Passion, and an improvised recital at the inaugural Hub for Artisitc Research in Performance conference at the Royal Northern College of Music. Recent repertoire includes: Brittens Phaedra (Cantata) and On This Island Op.11, Coplands Duo for Flute and Piano, and Old American Songs, Mussorgskys Songs and Dances of Death, and Poulencs Sextet for Wind and Piano.
In September 2018, Jonathan accompanied fellow GSMD baritone Jonathan De Garis to Leipzig for a residential masterclass lead by renowned lieder singer Peter Schreier. Subsequently the duo was invited to perform a recital of Lieder at the German Ambassador's residence in December.
Jonathan has been an official accompanist for several music festivals including the Huddersfield Grammar School Music and Drama Festival, and the Lincoln Music and Drama Festival. Jonathan has played for a variety of musicals and operettas, both in concert and rehearsal, including The Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone, We Will Rock You, Die Fledermaus and The Pirates of Penzance.
As répétiteur, Jonathan has worked for several established musical societies and regularly accompanies the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir.
