Jonathan is Director of Music and organist at the Abbey Church in Waltham Abbey, and a freelance organist and pianist specialising in accompaniment of all kinds. He is accompanist to the English Arts Chorale and to the Waltham Singers in Chelmsford.

He trained as an organist with subsidiary study in piano, at the RAM which more recently conferred on him its honorary diploma of Associate. Highlights of his career as an organist include winning the Organ Scholarship at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle aged 18, gaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists aged 19, being appointed as Sub-Organist to the famous choir of Leeds Parish Church and later as Assistant Organist at Ely Cathedral, and performing Poulenc's organ concerto live on BBC Radio 3.

Whilst in Leeds Jonathan was at various times an accompanist on the choral, operatic, instrumental and vocal scenes at Leeds College of Music, an extra accompanist at Leeds University, and accompanist & assistant conductor to the St Peter's Singers of Leeds and to Halifax Choral Society. Then in Ely he accompanied Ely Consort and Ely Choral Society (the latter inviting him to perform a Mozart Concerto within one of their concerts), appeared as pianist as well as organist in some of the cathedral choir's concerts, broadcasts and recordings, gave solo piano recitals for pleasure, and was the accompanist of choice for students at the King's School taking higher grades and diplomas.
