Soloist and collaborative pianist Kelly Kim began her studies at the age of 3 in Korea, and her learning has continued since she moved to Canada in 2004. Entering the University of Alberta with awards of academic excellence in 2007, she completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance under the guidance of Dr. Patricia Tao. During her undergraduate studies, Kelly was a finalist in the CIBC Piano Competition, and she has also won trophies from numerous festivals: the Kiwanis Music Festival, the Royal Conservatory of Music Festival, the Burnaby Clef Society Festival, and the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival. She was awarded scholarships to participate in the Toronto Music Festival as well. In May of 2013, Kelly won the runner up at the national piano competition in Performing Arts BC Festival. As a recipient of the Marek Jablonski Prize, Jason Lang Scholarship, Beryl Barn Memorial Scholarship, and the University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship for her academic achievements, Kelly has also recently been awarded the Vancouver Women's Musical Society Award. In addition to her undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta, Kelly attended the Yonsei University in Korea on an exchange program with a scholarship that fully covered her tuition in 2009. Throughout her studies in piano, Kelly has performed at master class for outstanding pianists such as Janina Fialkowska, Stephane Lemelin, Andre LaPlante, and YaMeng Huang. Recently Kelly completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia under Dr. Sara Davis Buechner's tutelage.
