I took piano lessons for about 15 years, and I am currently majoring in piano performance at Brigham Young University. I just completed my senior piano recital and have already taken eight semesters of piano lessons. When I was 12, I accompanied the first movement of the Widor Suite (a very intricate and difficult to learn accompaniment) for my sister, a flutist, with only about one or two weeks of notice. At BYU, I took an ensemble class a couple times where I had experience accompanying other instruments, including viola, flute, piano, and voice. Later, on my own I accompanied a flutist and a bass player.
