Lana Bode (MMus, Guildhall School of Music & Drama) is an experienced accompanist, based in London, UK. She began her training in the United States, where she enrolled as an undergraduate at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of Edward Auer. She received a Bachelor of Music with High Distinction at the age of 20, and was named an Indiana University Founders Scholar. She subsequently settled in the UK, where she completed a Master of Music with Distinction at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2014, studying piano accompaniment with Andrew West and contemporary piano with Rolf Hind. She won the Paul Hamburger Prize for song accompaniment in 2013 and was awarded the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma by the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2014. In 2015, she was a YCAT semifinalist. In 2016, Lana was named the Viola Tunnard Young Artist at Aldeburgh Music, which led to a series of performances at Snape and the Red House.

Lana is sought after as a recitalist in the genres of song accompaniment, chamber music and solo piano. She has performed throughout Europe and North America, recently appearing in nearly all of the major concert halls in London including Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall and Royal Festival Hall. Lana has performed in song projects with Graham Johnson, Roger Vignoles, Malcolm Martineau, Iain Burnside, Julius Drake, Sarah Walker, Dame Ann Murray, Natalie Dessay, Felicity Lott, Sir Thomas Allen, Thomas Quasthoff, Roderick Williams and Martin Frost.

Lana has a passion for contemporary music and is well-versed in extended techniques. Her highly-acclaimed final postgraduate recital featured music by George Crumb, Henry Cowell and Joseph Schwantner. She has also performed for composers John McCabe, Jonathan Dove, Brian Elias and Sadie Harrison. Her performance of John McCabe’s Requiem Sequence prompted the composer to write, “I was very impressed with Lana Bode, who showed great sensitivity. She’s obviously someone who likes to look into repertoire.”

Lana is a Samling Artist, a Leverhulme Artist and an alumnus of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme. She was an accompaniment fellow at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance from 2014-16, and is now a staff accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She is also Artistic Director of the concert series Virginia Woolf & Music.

Lana has supported soloists of all levels of experience through exams, auditions, recordings, and concert performances. She has worked extensively with singers and string, woodwind, and brass players, ranging in ability from early ABRSM grade exams to final recitals in the most prestigious conservatoires in the UK. Additionally, Lana is an experienced performer of the harpsichord and fortepiano, making her an ideal partner for early music, whether performed on a modern piano or period instruments. Lana offers performance and vocal coaching, in addition to accompaniment.
