I am a recent graduate in French and Music of Royal Holloway University of London. I specialise mainly in accompanying singers, or acting as repetiteur or rehearsal pianist. I am working towards my MMus and have Grade 8 piano. I have excellent sight-reading skills and a good knowledge of vocal operatic repertoire.
I have much firsthand experience of accompanying rehearsals both in and outside of university. I began accompanying at the age of 14 when a local amateur dramatic society offered me the post of rehearsal pianist for their production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Jesus Christ Superstar". Since then, I have acted as rehearsal pianist for numerous performing arts societies for such productions as Bernstein's "West Side Story", Lehar's "The Merry Widow" and most recently Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd". I have also been the repetiteur for the Royal Holloway Savoy Opera Society since commencing my studies in 2006. With this society I have worked on several Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. I also have experience of accompanying both instrumental (particularly brass players) and vocal soloists (mainly tenor or soprano Italian and German repertoire). It is through accompanying soloists that I have managed to acquaint myself with more operatic repertoire, particularly arias, duets and ensemble excerpts from various Mozart operas (mainly Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflote). I have gained a lot from this experience and am eager to extend my repertoire and challenge myself with more difficult, larger-scale opera.
I also have significant vocal experience, gained from the seven years (1999-2006) I spent studying voice at the Junior Department of the RWCMD, first with Marilyn Rees and then with Guy Harbottle. At university, I have concentrated primarily on accompaniment, but took several singing lessons with Christian Immler in 2008, and therefore remain confident in my knowledge of vocal style and technique.
