I currently study Music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University. I spend half of the year in Cambridge, and the other 6 months mainly in Aberdeen, so can be contacted to accompany in either town. In 2006, I was awarded the Licentiate of Trinity College London diploma (LTCL) with distinction. While at school (firstly at Aberdeen City Music School and latterly at St. Mary's Music School, Edinburgh), I had much experience of accompanying fellow students, in Grade 8 exams, SQA music exams, music festivals and concerts. I also worked as a ballet-class pianist from 2006-07 at City Moves Dance Centre.
From 2008-09, I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain Composer's Course. This led to accompanying the principal violist of the LSO in a programme of Prokofiev at Durham University, and being the pianist for NYO Sinfonietta (specialising in contemporary music). I also played piano and celesta in the main orchestra, which resulted in me being asked back in 2010 to play in the European premiere of Julian Anderson's Fantasias.
Since commencing studies at Cambridge, I have been awarded the Padley Repetiteur Scholarship, my duties including accompanying visiting performers and repetiteuring for Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera. In January 2011, I will act as Musical Director, repetiteur and conductor for Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera, which will present two conremporary chamber operas (including a world premiere). Additionally, I have acted as pianist for the Cambridge University New Music Ensemble and CB3, the other contemporary ensemble, and I frequently accompany the Fitzwilliam College Chapel Choir.
I have been awarded a Dewar Arts Award towards my studies in Cambridge.
Aside from piano, I am active as a composer, having recently completed a commission for the Gordon Forum for the Arts, for flute and double choir. I have had works played at the South Bank Centre, Princess Alexandra Hall, the Sage Gateshead, Snape Maltings (Aldeburgh) and the Tate Modern.
