A Jamaican native currently pursuing a double major (BM) in count-tenor and piano performance at the University of Arkansas with Professor Lauren Clare and Dr. Asher Armstrong. He has studied with Roger Williams, Ann MacNamee, Allison Wallace from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Angela Eliiot of the Music House and Teresita Iraneta Ruiz from The Immaculate Conception High School for Girls in Kingston Jamaica, Jeffery Allen Murdock, Tomoko Kashiwagi, Christopher MacRae, Moon-Sook Park and Hyun Kim at the University of Arkansas.Awards/Achievements:
2020-2018-Frist and second place (Gold and Silver medal) of four international awards for NATS (National Association of Teachers for Singing) for regional and state competitions.
2020-Outstanding Keyboard Student of The University of Arkansas
2018-2017-Grade 8 Voice-ABRSM (Associated Board of The Royal School of Music) with Distinction.
Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 Piano Performance with Honors and Distinctions. Advanced Chorale Singing- “The Ecumenical Chamber Chorale”, and ARSM Diploma- ABRSM Examinations with Merits.
2014- ABRSM Grade 5 Theory with Merit. Trinity Hall Grade 8 Advanced Accompanying Examinations both with Honors and Distinctions.
Mickel currently serves as Ambassador of Music for the Harbour View Primary School. He has performed for Ambassador's of English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian and Spanish cultures.
Work Experiences:
2014-2018 -Full-time as staff and private studios accompanist, co-assistant music teacher and pianist in residence at The Immaculate Conception High School for Girl and Associated Board of the Royal School of Music graded and diploma examinations.
2010-2014-Part-time as head accompanist for The Edna Manley College of The Visual and Performing Arts woodwind, brass, chamber, strings and voice departments.
Mickel has accompanied and directed numerous Choirs, Chorales, Soloist-vocal and instrumental both nationally and internationally. He plans to further his education in the field of Chamber Music Performance, Piano Performance, Vocal Coaching, Chorale Conducting, Counter-tenor, and Music History.
