ROBERT LINDNER
Piano/Vocals/Composer/Musical Director/Music Instructor
I have been involved with music my whole life ever since I starting plunking out tunes on my familys piano when I was 3 years old. Music and Theater have been my two main pursuits and I began acting at age 11, playing Young Patrick in the First National Tour of Auntie Mame with Constance Bennett for 3 years. I am a graduate of NYU and a former member of the USMA band at West Point. Some of my many credits include playing in Woody Allen's "Hannah and Her Sisters", conducting for Bob McGrath ["Sesame St"], Barbara Feldon ["Get Smart"] and many Cabaret and Night Club performers. I led a trio for 2 Summers at the Stevensville Hotel in the Catskill Mountains. Some of the other artists I've worked with include Pat Benatar, Shawn Colvin, Marvin Hamlisch, JK Simmons [Oscar winner], Anita O'Day, Laura Branigan, Vito & the Salutations, Richard Belzer, Gilbert Gottfried, Larry David, Regis Philbin, Kathie Lee Gifford, Merv Griffin, Major Holly, Jay Leonhart, Steven Schwartz, Dana Gioia [poet, former NEA chairman], Marilyn Michaels, Joe Franklin, Don Kirshner, et al. My bread and butter over the years has been performing at corporate and private parties/events as pianist/singer of the Great American Songbook [with a jazz flavor] all over the tri-state area including country clubs and NYCs prominent hotels. I've sung the leads in "Man of La Mancha", "Pirates of Penzance" and "HMS Pinafore", have been the featured vocalist on 2 CDs: Jazzheads & Rivertown Voices [a locally produced CD!] and led a jazz quartet on WBGO [NPR] in the radio play King of Jazz. I have Musically Directed over 45 shows for schools and other local groups, as well as Off-Bway and at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I have also provided Music Therapy to populations from pre-school special-needs children through adult Alzheimer groups.
