Detailed Bio
1. Piano Accompanist
I started to study piano when I was 6 years old and I never stopped. During my studies, when accompanying another instrumental classes in the Conservatoire, I discovered how happy I was sharing and creating music with other people. So, after finishing my studies and keeping myself in practise as a solo pianist, I played a lot of chamber music, accompanying many people in different situation (exams, concourses, courses, masterclasses, degrees, concerts, …).
I finally studied with Bruno Canino and Pier Narciso Masi in Tuscany (Italy).
On several occasions I worked as Piano Accompanist, most recently in Teramo (Italy), accompanying Prof. Anna Vandi (soprano)’s class for Interamnia Summer Music Courses.
I had many duos: with a cellist, with another pianist, with a flutist, a string trio…
At present I play in two permanent duos: the Colli&Rubini Duo, a 4 hands duo with Martina Colli; and the 11/10 Duo, with the flutist Valeria Desideri. The first one has recorded two CDs, for Tactus Records of Bologna (Italy) and for Masterchord Records of London (UK). Its debut in London was last August, in Saint Martins in the Field, after which it was proposed for the Grammy Awards of Los Angeles 2013.
In October 2012, after a long exam with audition, theory and portfolio selection, I granted “Habilitation” Piano Accompanist in Santa Cecilia Conservatoire of Rome.
In March 2013 I was shortlisted as Piano Accompanist in the Royal College of Music and in the Trinity Laban (London).
2. Pianist
I took my Bachelor degree in Teramo (Italy) in 2000 at the age of 18 with “Distinction”. After that, I won a bursary to study in the Mozarteum of Salzburg (Austria) with Prof. Alfons Kontarsky.
Moved on to Rome, I continued my studies at Rome University, but practising also as solo piano with Prof. Aldo Tramma. I performed in many concerts and auditions. In competitions my position was always among the first three places! After taking my Diploma I went on playing as much as possible, to expand my repertoire. I also extended my interest in contemporary music. One of my most recent performances was in the Museum of Contemporary Arts of Teramo, where I played electroacustic music. I played a piece by Alvin Lucier, the first performance of this composition in Italy.
In 2013 I was selected for a European Cultural Project (ArtEx, an artistic exchange between Teramo and the Central Saint Martins College of Arts of London); so at the moment I’m working with a video artist from London. Our work will be exhibited in Saint Martins in June 2013. I will record an Enrica Sciandrone’s piece for piano solo in the Royal College of Music, in London.
As well as contemporary music, I also play classic and romantic music, for piano solo or for chamber music.
In Summercourses 2008 in Trani (Italy), I played some Chopin’s Etudes before a speech of Prof. Mario Bortolotto (musicologist and music critic). On February 2009 I played live classical music in a television program for Rai (Radiotelevisione Italiana, equivalent of BBC)
My CD about Gino Marinuzzi Jr. contains for the first time in the world the Lagerlieder,an unedited piece for piano four hands.
3. Teacher
I have been teaching music and piano for a very long time, performing in concerts, giving lessons to students in public schools, and giving substitution and covering lessons in the Conservatoire, as a piano teacher and teacher of the theory of music. Since my graduation I have continually been busy giving lessons to children as well as adults, in public as well as in private schools, and in my own home. Since 2005 I have been a Yamaha Music Teacher. I took my Yamaha license in Italy (Yamaha Music System Grade V). At present I am in England, where I am based at the Yamaha Music Centre in Sutton Courtenay, near Oxford
4. Musicologist
I took my Bachelor Degree with Distinction in Rome in 2004 and 2006, with a thesis about the piano works of Luigi Dallapicola (2004, Prof. Pierluigi Petrobelli) and Luciano Berio (2006).
In the University I studied classical music, theory of music, ethnomusicology, music for film, operas choir, etc. Recently I have been writing for two cultural newspapers. My main concern has been to review music and dance events.
