My main experience is as a dance accompanist for children's classes, modern, and, currently, Dance for PD (Parkinson's). Improvisation is a major component. I have written and performed musical theater for children, community and college productions.
My studies included piano, theory/composition, Indian music and Brazilian music.
Although My academic degrees are in fields other than music, I have studied with very fine teachers including piano with the late great Nathan Schwartz of Berkeley, composition at UCSD with Brian Ferneyhough and at U of Illinois with Ben Johnston.
I have a fairly large repertoire of songs from The Great American Songbook and Broadway, especially Gershwin, which I mine for dancers or background for receptions, parties, and memorials.
