Achieving an LTCL Diploma with Distinction at age 16 and gaining extensive experience as a collaborative pianist and accompanist, Samuel is distinguished by his deep sensitivity, acute musical intelligence and searing passion for all aspects of classical music, which make him an ideal accompanist. Above all else, Samuel is an opera lover at heart and, of late, also a Baroque enthusiast: he would be especially eager to serve you as a Vocal Accompanist or Répétiteur where his considerable understanding of the vocal and operatic repertoire would shine to its fullest. Most notably, he has provided accompaniment for two full length concerts of vocal repertoire including opera excerpts, lieder and light music, as well as numerous Singing Diploma exam programmes.
Having begun his musical journey at an early age under the aegis of renowned soloist Tedd Joselson, Samuel has matured into a deft and versatile accompanist who has accompanied a wide range of instrumentalists and musicians for diverse occasions, such as graded exams, conservatory auditions and public concerts. Accepted into the prestigious Raffles Institution Music Elective Programme at age 13, he underwent specialised classes that trained ensemble skills in contemporary chamber music and secured the expertise in music theory that undergirds his playing. In Junior College, he served as Chair of the Raffles Institution Piano Ensemble where he supervised rehearsals and performances for various groups of pianists playing four-hand or two-piano repertoire and produced arrangements and transcriptions of pieces from diverse genres for the piano.
