Sofia Sarmento is a pianist and piano teacher. She was awarded the First Prize at Peter Donohoe Competition (Birmingham/UK), in 2014. Her performing activity comprises solo concerts, collaborations with different chamber groups, and concerts with orchestra. In 2014 she completed a Postgraduate Artist Diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, having been taught by Margaret Fingerhut. She further her studies in an Advanced Diploma Programme at Birmingham Conservatoire with Margaret Fingerhut and Julian Jacobson. As a pianist and performer, Sofia has been involved in projects that associate music with different fields, from dance to theatre and cinema. Sofia is keen to perform classical contemporary repertoire. She recently participated in the Frontiers and Birtwistle Festivals, and she has performed the premieres of works by English, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese composers.
