Su Mei Kong is a graduate from Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. At the academy, she studies under the tutelage of Dr. Drafi Kalman, the head of keyboard, harp and percussion. In 2010, she completed her Master of Music with a distinction from Birmingham Conservatoire. She studies with Philip Martin and Victor Sangiorgio. Su Mei also performed in master classes conducted by renowned pianists such as Mikhail Kazekevich, Peter Donohoe, Steven Osborne, Andrew Ball and Emmanuel Ax. Su Mei is an active chamber musician and a piano accompanist for all kinds of settings- from instrumental, vocal, ballet to choir accompaniment.
Su Mei was awarded with several music competition awards. In year 2001, she was awarded the Distinguished Award during the finals of the Yamaha Electone Festival with her own composition- Journey to the Frontier Land. In year 2006, she emerged as the Champion of Contemporary Jazz Solo Category in a piano competition organized by University of Wolverhampton (UK). A year later, she took part in a music competition organized by the Talent Makers and the Malaysian Youth Music Festival (MYOF) and was awarded 2nd prize winner. Early 2008, she was awarded Champion winner of Jazz Piano Solo and Classical Piano Duet category in Roland’s 1st Piano Festival Competition. In 2010, she was awarded the Birmingham Conservatoire Piano Prize.
Su Mei is a versatile musician. She is classically trained, but she plays all genres of music including improvisation, jazz, folk and pop. Besides being an active pianist and accompanist, she also took part in musicals and choirs. In 2006, she joined The Canticle’s Singers and was the Assistant Music Director in a musical titled Refugee: Images which was held in the Kuala Lumpur Theater. At the same time, she also joined the UCSI production group and performed as the lead role in a musical titled “You See As I Recall”. Besides being an actor and singer for the production, she also provided original concepts and ideas for a few scenes and was the director in the musical.
Su Mei is an extremely friendly person and is easy to work with. She is a reliable, punctual and supportive accompanist. She has an excellent sight reading skills and have a string of repertoires under her belt to be able to accompany music at short notice.
Su Mei is currently the Assistant Music Director at a leading private girls' school in Ascot.

2007
• Performed as a pianist, played Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in UCSI choir during semester festival.
• Selected as the pianist for the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C major, K467 with MPYO orchestra players under the baton of Mr. Kevin Field. Joined music camps organized by MPYO to Perak, Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur.
• Chosen as rehearsal pianist and performed as a choir singer in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 “Choral” held in Istana Budaya with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO).
• Performed Christmas carols as pianist and vocalist in Starhill, Kuala Lumpur. She was also the assistant music director.
2008
• Participated in 6th Young Singers Choral Festival held in KLPAC on June 6th.
• Performed as a guest pianist and chamber choir singer in Malaysian composer, Mr. Isaac Chia’s composition recital on June 13th.
• Invited to be the accompanist for The KL Children's Choir for their performance as opening act for The All American Boys' Choir concert on July 20th.
• Invited to sing as an alumni in “A Grand Night For Singing”, a musical put up by The Canticle’s Singers on July 20th.
• Invited to perform Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances Op. 45 in ‘Night of Keys’ concert organized by Roland Asia Pacific in Plenary Hall, KLCC on 23rd August.
• Performed as a choir singer and an accompanist in a self-organized choir concert in Klang and Muar in August.
• Performed with Dithyrambic singers in Klang’s 34th Music Festival in Centro, Klang on August 17th.
• Performed as a soloist in Kuala Lumpur’s 42th Music Festival in Jing Wu Hall on November 9th.
• Performed as a pianist in a self-organized concert in No Black Tie, featuring Mike Mower’s Sonata Latino and Claude Bolling’s Flute Suite on November 5th.
• Participated in World Youth Choral Festival held in Singapore from 9th to 14th December.
2009
• Performed as a pianist and choral singer in Dithyrambic Singers 1st concert – A Choral Voyage, held in KLPAC from 20th to 22nd March.
• Performed as a pianist with 16th Place Quartet in a reappearance concert in Jazz & Bits @ Mike’s Place, Ipoh, featuring Mike Mower’s Sonata Latino and Claude Bolling’s Flute Suite on the 16th of May.
2010
• Winner of Birmingham Conservatoire Piano Prize.
• Recipient of the Joseph Weingarten Scholarship to pursue studies in the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary.
• Solo piano recital in the Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham Conservatoire, performing Beethoven's 7 Bagatelles Opus 33, Schumann's Toccata in C and Carl Vine's Sonata No. 1.
