my name is Vesela Kirova, I am a Doctor in Piano Performance from SUNY at Stony Brook. I have been playing piano for more than 30 years, have been accompanying for more than 10-all the instruments and, of course, lots of singers-classical and Broadway.
I have to say that I love accompanying and I am quite experienced in this area.Unlike some other classical pianists, I enjoy performing as a soloist, but I am also naturally strong as an accompanist. The reason for that is my natural sensitivity to know how to follow (and/or to lead) the soloist and to provide my musical support without being overpowering, so together with the soloist, we can create the desired musical impression. This is especially important when working with singers-I know that the pianist have to "breathe"with them. I am also a very good sight reader.
My latest big accompanying experience is for the rehearsals for the American Classical Orchestra Opening Night at Alice Tully Hall(Oct.15,2012)-Brahms-four songs for women's choir and Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream.
My other vocal accompaniments experiences include:
Accompanying the opera rehearsals for "Richard the Lion Heart", opera presented by the American Classical Orchestra in June'11 in Manhattan.
In the Spring of 2005 while pursuing the Doctoral degree at SUNY Stony Brook I was chosen as an accompanist and musical director for an opera scenes class, which had a concert performance at the end of the semester. Among the works that the scenes were selected were: "Candid","Don Jovani","Karmen" and "Magic Flute". In the winter of 2005 I was a musical director (and accompanist) for two operas -"The Telephone" and "The Seven Deadly Sins", both staged in Manhattan.
My instrumental accompanying experience includes:
During my Master's studies at the University of South Florida (2000-2002) I was an accompanist for four instrumental classes (violins, cellos, clarinets and trombones) as well as for the University's Choir
From 2006-2009 I served as a residence accompanist at Brooklyn College Prep Center and Lucy Moses School in Manhattan. In both places my duties included accompanying violin and cello students for their weekly lessons and concerts as well as for master classes and festivals. I was also the accompanist for the Chamber and Junior Choirs at Lucy Moses School.
Currently I am a rehearsal accompanist for the American Classical Orchestra.I am also employed as an accompanist at Lucy Moses Music School in Manhattan.
