Zachary begin studying piano since the age of 4, and has been playing for over 20 years professionally. He previously studied in School of the Arts majoring in piano, where he attained an International Baccalaureate diploma. Prior to entering School of the Arts, he attained his certifications for Grade 8 piano and music theory from the Associated Boards of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM).

As a versatile musician, he has done multiple accompanying stints for concerts with vocalists and choirs such as Filipino Voice Symphony and Psalmi Deo Chorale. He also serves as musical director and principal organist for his church choir, The Heralds of St Mary of the Angels, and sings regularly as a Baritone section leader for Voices of Singapore's premiere male chorus, VOS Men. He also accompanies some Voices of Singapore professional and community impact choirs as well, on top of his work as a music educator.
