I am a professional conductor, singing teacher and piano accompanist based in Leicester near the M1/M69 motorways and Fosse Park. I am Chorus Master of the Leicester Philharmonic Choir, and Director of Music at St Anne's Church in Western Park, Leicester, and am much in demand as an organist and piano accompanist for recitals, exams and auditions.
I started my musical career as a chorister at King's College, Cambridge and took up conducting at the age of fourteen while a music scholar at Eton. I read music at Oxford University as Organ Scholar of Corpus Christi College, and sang with the professional choir of St Mary the Virgin and the Schola Cantorum of Oxford.
After university I sang for seven years as a cathedral lay clerk, first at Southwell Minster and then at Lincoln Cathedral, where I was also Choral Animateur for the cathedrals outreach programme, leading workshops and developing choirs in schools throughout Lincolnshire. I conducted the Lincoln Orpheus Male Voice Choir and was Musical Director of Lincoln Sounds Ladies Barbershop Chorus (UK small chorus champions in 2008).
I moved to Leicester in 2009 to be Director of Music at St Thomas the Apostle, South Wigston, where I directed the renowned choir of boys and men. I have taught singing to music scholars at Leicester University since 2010, and have been delighted to act as vocal coach for the Leicester University Chamber Choir since 2014.
In addition to my career as a performer, I have over twenty years experience as a singing teacher working in schools, colleges and universities. A number of my pupils have gained places at UK conservatoires and now pursue successful careers as soloists or with professional choirs.. I am also an accomplished organist and piano accompanist, and am increasingly well known as a composer and arranger. My choral music is regularly performed in churches and cathedrals around the UK and further afield, and some of my original work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
